Monarch is a business of mine, upcycling and creating hand-painted jackets like the one in my last posts. I thought it was necessary to provide a blog post with information about Monarch so I don't leave anyone in the dark and so maybe I can educate someone on the positive effects of upcycling.
I chose to create Monarch because it is constantly pushed by society that creativity can get you nowhere and that it is nothing more than a talent to show off. I wanted to prove that I could do something with my creativity other than painting pretty pictures to hang on my wall.
Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy painting pretty pictures, but I wanted to do some good with my creativity instead of leaving it hung on the wall. Upcycling jackets is the perfect way to do that. I get to take something old or worn down and make something completely new, unique, and one-of-a-kind.
When I'm upcycling jackets, I'm not only doing something that I enjoy, but I'm also helping in any way I can to decrease our environmental footprint.
Things like fast fashion, global warming, and material demand have been big problems lately and have been damaging our planet.
Even if I can't change the environment right now I can make small moves to help. I'm taking an old jacket and making it into something new instead of buying a brand-new jacket and painting it. I can get thrifted jackets for at least half the price.
Of course, I know that I can't fix the fact that most girls have body image issues and don't feel secure in their skin I can try to help by providing clothes that make me feel comfortable about how I look and feel safe in my skin.
If this blog post reaches you could you please do me a solid and send it to someone you think might enjoy it?
